Good web host required

Must do something about a new web hosting company
Need one that is reliable, cheap and doesn't mind regular uploads with domain reegistration if possible.
Would also be nice if it was British

Snow at Braemar

Wee spot of the white stuff falling at the moment at Braemar.

Down time

Looks like GeoCities is having a whole load of dow time at the moment.

Only one upload since eight last night.

Must sort out a new host......

Metric Change

Due to a problem SCWN was having with our rain data being uploaded in inches, we have changed over to mm. Please let us know if this is no good for you!

Comments now available

We have now, on the web site, a place where comments can be left.

It is a simple Yahoo creation but we think it is better than nothing for now.

Updates to web site

We have made a few alterations (for the better we hope) to the site, especialy the links. Some pages are still to be updated (week and month). Let us know if all is working ok or not, as the case might be.

Uv and snow

I notice today that the solar rad readings would sujest that there should be a minimal uv reading (no more than 0.5) however with the recent snow fall Still laying on the sensor a false reading could occure.

Snow covered Morvan

Sunday, 23 November 2008

Firefox and Opera

For now use Firefox or Opera to best view the site.

They are great browsers anyway, so it might be time you gave them a try.......

Update to web site css issues

The site seems to be looking better we think, however, internet explorer dosen't like it, so it seems there may be a few glitches in the css. We will be working on it.

Going to get rid of the Email link

Fed up with all the spam so the new site when compleated will not have an email link. However; for those who want to, there is a way to contact me, try a link to 34.....

updated web site

So the new site is still a work in progress. but i thought I'd publish it so far, mainly because i didn't know how my ip was going to cope with xhtml and css.

but hey not to bad a result really...best viewed using Firefox though...

Will be working to solve those little hick-ups. And change the other pages over.

so come back soon and see how it's going.

A Light covering of snow even at low levels this morning, more to follow later with increasing winds as well,

Friday, 24 October 2008

Will they make it?

Friday, 3 October 2008

Blue skys. Autumn colour.

Blue sky to go with the autumn colour. After the early snow. How many seasons in one day?

Snow on them hills

Snow on the hills today, cloud cover at about the same height So not great for photos. This one has Morvan in the distance.

Thursday, 2 October 2008

Frosty morning

Frosty morning with near zero temperatures warming up now though with a Light wind.

Friday, 12 September 2008

Cool and misty morn.

No wind either.

Wednesday, 10 September 2008

Fine for gliders

Rain has cleared for now leaving a pleasant, if windy day could even stay nice for any late barbecues.

Tuesday, 9 September 2008

Waking up

Waking up to some heavy looking cloud which will bring rain later, So a different day from yesterday, temperatures should be ok in a freshening southerly wind.

Monday, 8 September 2008

Beautiful day at Tomnaverie Stone Circle

Looking towards Tarland.

Beautiful day at Tomnaverie Stone Circle

Fine in Aboyne

Weather webcam.

Any recommendations out there for a web cam? I should be changing the computer which uploads weather station data within the next two weeks, if al goes well a new look website will be installed at the same time along with a weather webcam. So any suggestions would be appreciated.

Mixed bag

We recon a mixed bag is the order for this week, nothing special but also nothing bad. The mornings are cooling down now with single figure temperatures the norm, should see reasonable daytime temperatures and it will feel pleasant in any sunny periods, winds will increase towards the middle of the week. We shouldn't see to much rain either.

Friday, 5 September 2008

Cool so far

Cloud should burn away this afternoon leaving some good sunny periods, cool N to NE wind though.

Thursday, 4 September 2008

Could be cold tonight

Could be as low as 2 deg C we think, so rap up warm, wind on the way to???

What a wash out

That load hardly touched us, not even enough rain to register. Still going on down the valley though.

Bad weather

Rain, thunder etc has just reached us so expect to loose broadband any moment.

Rain all about

But none at mine yet, rumblles of thunder to.

Water up there

Thunder later? Feels very warm at the moment.

Beautiful morning sky

Weather

A cool, still, dry start to the day in Deeside with beautiful high patchy cloud. Rain later we think, if anything like yesterday though, any showers could be very localised and heavy, yesterday afternoon and evening saw Ballogie dry and pleasant while Dinnet through to Torphins and beyond suffered heavy showers.

Tuesday, 2 September 2008

Good evening

Clasic September evening.

Few clouds

Few clouds and some isolated showers, nothing to worry about though. Pleasantly warm.

Fine morning

Fine start to the day if a little cold at just over 3 deg C.

Monday, 1 September 2008

All change now

Rain now moving into the Dee valley. Comming across Morven inthis pic.

Never mind the forecast

What sort of forecast was that this morning, that said rain all day with 100 percent cloud. Metcheck doesn't usually get it that wrong!

Thursday, 28 August 2008

Good weather for Deeside

Looks like a fine spell to come, with some summer sun and temperatures to match over the next four days. Expected high of 22 deg C. So enjoy.

Wednesday, 27 August 2008

Braemar

Warm with some broken cloud, drizzle at times.

Not a bad week so far

Better than last anyway, Light drizzle at Braemar now, warm with light winds.

Monday, 25 August 2008

Rain moving east

Heavy shower just now at Crathie moving East, warm though. Should clear by afternoon.

Friday, 22 August 2008

Changing seasons

Getting cooler now. Noticed today how the leaves have started to fall.

Thursday, 21 August 2008

Another day of rain

More rain today, mild with little or no wind.

Tuesday, 19 August 2008

Rain, rain and rain

What more can be said about today!

Monday, 18 August 2008

Weather

Mixed bag so far today. Wet first thing, cleared to fine warm sun, now mostly cloudy, dry and warm.

Bad Battery

Always buy good quality batteries is what we are told. So the last time I had to replace the station transmitter battery it was with an unknown make from the local shop. What a difference, instead of the usual 2 or 3 days of low battery warning we got about two hours before we had a lifeless transmitter. So, sorry but no data was recorded overnight. Battery replaced with a decent one this time!

Saturday, 16 August 2008

Weather webcam

So yes i'm going to set up my own weather webcam.

But what do i buy?

I want something robust, up to the job, with a good quality piccture, and easy to set up, wireless if possible.

Can anyone sugest anything

Friday, 15 August 2008

Rainy Braemar

Light rain now in Braemar very little wind though so it may hang about all day. Willie says 'usual day in Braemar'.

Thursday, 14 August 2008

Wrong way around

Ok, I got the last two blogs the wrong way around, Aboyne green was taken about an hour before the Kirk it's just that I forgot to press 'send' so my email software saved the first one and sent it after the kirk.

By the way poor quality of pictures are due to the convenience of the camera-phone but I think it's still better than nothing.

Aboyne Green

A bit cloudier now in Aboyne but warm and humid feeling.

St. Machers Kirk

The church on the green at Aboyne. Notice the now pure blue sky, feels like 22 deg C (according to Willie).

Not a cloud

What a start to the day!

Wednesday, 13 August 2008

Ballater games

Looks like a fine day for the Ballater games tomorrow, nothing outstanding but fine and bright.

Good luck to all.

Tuesday, 12 August 2008

More mobile please

What i want is more mobile recognition. I love metcheck and weather underground but neither are mobile friendly, why not? Am i the only one who wishes to view data on the move?

Still and misty morning

Monday, 11 August 2008

Just started to rain

Well i meen spit realy. Sorry the last pic is the wrong way around,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Fine end to the day

Looks like it will be a fine end to the day after the earlier uncertanty. Windy, dry, warm with well broken cloud.

Beautiful start

Beautiful start to the day here in Ballogie. I hear of the flooding in Fife and torrential downpoors a few miles away in Torphins at the weekend and wonder what its all about. As i head up the Dee vally the weather changes, colder and grey, will it rain, wont it rain? We shall wait and see,,,,,,,,,,

Sunday, 10 August 2008

All change

This morning found us with a particularly miserable, drizzly day yet now, broken cloud and warmth are the order. So sat out with beer and cheese. Nice one Ballogie. Oh, so sorry for the Scouts who are just leaving, having spent what must be one of the wettest weeks at the camp site....See you again next year!

Still trying

Still trying to find a way to blog on the go,,...

I want to blog from my phone.

Now that sounds like a great idea, but will it work?

Saturday, 9 August 2008

Oh' that Broadband

Hey, it's been a week, yes a whole week with an internet connection, after all this time, we hope to get up and running again. Plans are to keep it simple (i use mobile devices to view a lot of the time so forgive me if things are not state-of-the-art but try it on your phone or palm, don't forget i write all my own code as well) hope to include a webcam at some point. Keep an eye

Thursday, 22 May 2008

Update on FTP and things

OK so the FTP seems to work sometimes then refuses at others, maybe something to do with traffic at the server, who knows....

Weather here has been the last few days with very little wind for a change, frosty mornings this week with some fresh snow on the hills.... Long may it last.

A couple of shots taken on my route to and from work.

More Snow

Suprisingly, we have more more snow this morning.

Tuesday, 8 April 2008

Down time

Appologies to anyone who noticed,

we had a bit of a hitch between about 9am and 5pm when we were not uploading.

However, back to normal now..........

Snow's thawing

Monday, 7 April 2008

More Snow

More snow today, falling quite wet so it wont be around long i think.

Sunday, 6 April 2008

Spring Snow

A good couple of inches of snow this morning.

So no doubt when it thaws the weather station will record a rain storm.

But beautifull.

Saturday, 5 April 2008

Amazing

Wow

we have -1.5c and snow. But snow like the winter. Laying 2" or so.

Fantastic..............

Computer Problems

Have been looking at dedicating one comp. to run the weather station uploads etc.

At the moment i have turned of the Rapid Fire as it seems to cause some probs.... Sorry.............

Wednesday, 2 April 2008

back working

ok, so for now, all seems ok, must get this computer sorted though.

More Problems

I think my computer is about to give up.

Closed down last night and Blue screen this morning.

Rapid fire does not seem to be working

Tuesday, 1 April 2008

Problems

Been having some problems today downloading data so the historical data got stuck.

Have now reset the computer which seems to have sorted things out.

Monday, 31 March 2008

Good day

Every thing working fine.

Weather today as expected (see website). Sat out for a wee dram this evening!!!

Hope to have a daily image page soon.

Sunday, 30 March 2008

OK that works

Seems that the links work ok.

So i will try and keep you posted of any interesting developments.

All apears to be working normally.

If anyone has noticed some weard rain readings lately then it may be because we have had quite a bit of the white stuff and when it melts in the rain guage it does so all at once and appears as though it's a storm....

First Blog

This is just the ticket for info about my personal weather station.
I hope to have the two linked via my web site http://uk.geocities.com/ballogie_weather@btinternet.com/index.html
so lets wait and see....
